Where do I begin with therapy?

Whether you’ve been to therapy before or not, beginning therapy with someone new can be daunting.

It’s probably taken some time for you to get to this point. It’s gotten to a point where you’re fed up with feeling this way, and you’re looking for someone to help you get through it. You’ve trekked through the directory profiles, google, and therapy websites, trying to filter out and find someone who can help you. And now you’re here – you think you may have found someone who can help – but now what?

There’s three simple steps to beginning therapy with me.

  1. Book a free Intro chat.
  2. Decide if you would like to meet for a meeting session.
  3. Begin therapy.

It’s that simple.

Let me share a little more…

  1. Book a free Intro chat.

I offer an Intro chat, which is a 20 minute free chat. This can be done over the phone, or instant message. At the end of that 20 minutes, I will check in with you on how you’re feeling about working together and if you have any final questions, but there’s no pressure for a decision.

If you feel you would like to move forward, or are undecided after our 20 minute chat, then I will send you a copy of the therapy agreement to give you a better picture of what is involved..

  1. Decide if you want to have a meeting session.

Along with the copy of the therapy agreement I will also send you a link to book a meeting session, if and when you feel ready to do so. The meeting session is the length of a normal session (50 minutes) and is £57.00. In the meeting session I will usually go through some of the main things you need to know about therapy, before then spending the most of the time talking about what you are struggling with and what you might need from therapy. There is never any pressure to share with me anything that you don’t feel comfortable with. As we come to the end of the session, we will usually have some space to answer more questions you may have, and I often encourage you to look after yourself after the session ends. If we feel like it’s not a good fit, then I may share some places where you could find other therapists or services that might fit your needs. It’s really important that you find someone that you feel comfortable to work with.

If we find that we feel it is a good fit and would like to work together then we…

  1. Begin therapy..!

We’ve met, you’ve asked the questions you wanted to ask and we’ve both agreed it feels like a good fit for us to work together – hurrah! Now it begins.

You might have more questions, needs or worries that come up along the way – that’s fine! You are never tied into working with me, and can ask questions or raise concerns anytime. The therapy relationship is a huge part of why therapy works – so it’s important to me that we can talk about the relationship we have, throughout our work together.

So – where are you in this journey now that you know a little more? Are you ready to book in an initial chat? Great! Book yourself a time to chat in, right here!

Not quite ready for therapy, but want to know more about ways you can understand your emotions better? Join the email list! You won’t receive emails every week, but you will hear as soon as a new blog post hits, or when I find something that may be particularly useful.
